For one, super-capacitors can be charged and discharged almost indefinitely, but batteries have a limited life. Batteries lose their capacity gradually over their lifetime. Super-capacitors don’t.
How come I had the probe fully charged the night before but the next day it won’t power up? Is the battery defective?
ECPin uses super-capacitor as power source. Unlike typical batteries, a ECPin’s super-capacitor standby power will be discharged in about 6 hours. Therefore it is recommended to charge ECPin before use.
